United States Muay Thai Association
The United States Muay Thai Association, a non-profit organization of martial art schools and individuals, promotes the growth and success of American Muay Thai throughout the North American continent. Established in 1991, the association represents hundreds of members from affiliated schools and organizations, and is recognized in 120 countries worldwide. Muay Thai Boxing has become one of the most popular ring martial arts in the past two decades. Only one step away from becoming acknowledged as an Olympic sport, it has created an exciting view of competitive martial arts, being short enough to keep spectators attention (3 to 5 rounds), yet long enough to gain it international recognition as the ring sport of the future. The USMTA is a large network that administers, governs and regulates Muay Thai in the United States. The organization is fueled by a unity of officials, coaches, trainers, judges, referees and administrators. With a team of internationally respected coaches and officials continuously providing instructional expertise, the USMTA has been able to produce the most highly recognized American instructors, officials and trainers in the sport today. Based in New York City, the USMTA endorses a host of programs: from developing the sport and its athletes at local, regional and national levels, to raising sponsorship for national and international competitions, as well as selecting the U.S. National teams (TEAM MUAY THAI-USA) for international events including the highly coveted Kings Cup of Thailand and the World Championships. < back to listings |
