International Sejong Soloists (ISS), is a conductor-less string ensemble comprised of today's leading young soloists who perform a broad range of orchestral and chamber repertoire for strings. Since its inception in 1995, ISS has established a distinctive musical identity, winning acclaim for its brilliant ensemble playing, tonal refinement, and fresh interpretations. Its players, all prizewinners at prestigious competitions, hail from nine different nations. The ensemble has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, the 92nd Street Y, the Kennedy Center, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, and at the Ravinia in Chicago, among other leading venues. ISS is ensemble-in-residence at the Aspen Music Festival and tours worldwide annually. ISS has also released two highly praised compact discs. The ensemble is based in New York City, where it works with its artistic director, Hyo Kang, a violin professor at the Juilliard School.

ISS has given critically acclaimed concerts at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, the 92nd Street Y, at Suntory Hall in Japan, and in the Rising Star series at Ravinia. They have performed to capacity audiences with such artists as Leon Fleisher, Benita Valente, Gil Shaham, Cho-Liang Lin, Vladimir Feltsman, Sharon Isbin, Kyoko Takezawa, and Carmen Pelton. ISS has been featured regularly on National Public Radio's Performance Today and was broadcast live on WFMT in Chicago at the Aspen Music Festival. 2000 tours include collaboration with guest artists Lynn Harrell, Sarah Chang, and Eugenia Zukerman.

ISS is involved in a vast array of outreach programs, providing lectures, demonstrations and master classes while on tour. The ensemble has brought classical music for the first time to underprivileged elementary school students in Mississippi, as well as given master classes for university students in Anchorage, Alaska. International Sejong Soloists is sponsored in part by the Samsung Foundation of Culture, which also extends a generous loan of several instruments to the ensemble: the Guarnerius del Gesu violin "ex-Moeller," Cremona, 1725; the Antonio Stradivarius violin "ex-Strauss," Cremona, 1708; a Gasparo da Salo viola, Brescia, ca.1590; and a Matteo Goffriller cello, Venice, ca. 1715, Luigi Mantovani bass, ca 1810. The ensemble has made two recordings for the Samsung Classics label.
