Asian Women In Business
Asian Women In Business (AWIB) is the only nonprofit, tax-exempt organization in the country with the primary mission of assisting Asian women entrepreneurs. Founded in 1995 to assist Asian women to realize their entrepreneurial potential, AWIB has become a reliable source of information for small business owners and the Asian American community. AWIB sponsors conferences, workshops and seminars on a variety of business topics and holds frequent networking activities to enable our members to make important business contacts. As a result of our efforts, we have provided invaluable assistance in helping women to start and grow their businesses. AWIB holds seminars on such topics as public relations, marketing, procurement opportunities; franchising and business planning; features successful Asian women in various industries; hosts trade delegations from Asia and matches them with US based businesses; and sponsors many networking events. Since 9/11, AWIB has been involved with economic development and business assistance in Lower Manhattan. AWIB works with other organizations to bring quality programs to the business community. AWIB's multi-cultural collaboration with organizations from the Black and Hispanic communities has resulted in additional benefits such as hands on technology programs and professional and business development seminars. Our quarterly newsletter provides an update of activities, the latest information on small business issues, as well as a calendar of upcoming events. The AWIB website (www.awib.org) not only contains business information but also a searchable directory of business owners, a members only section and a State by State listing of Asian organizations. In recognition of our accomplishments, many media outlets have covered AWIB, including: Crain's, the Wall Street Journal, Newsday, The Daily News, The New York Post, Nation's Business, WNBC-TV, WABC-TV, WNET-Channel 13 and all the Asian newspapers, radio and TV. < back to listings |
