Chinese-American Museum of Chicago
The museum is governed by the Board of Directors of the Chinatown Museum Foundation, a 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation located in Chicago, Illinois The mission of the Chinatown Museum Foundation is to maintain a museum in Chicago for the purpose of promoting exhibitions, education, and research relating to Chinese-American culture and history in the midwestern United States. During the past two years, the CMF's main activities have been (1) organizing a successful lecture series at various venues in the Chicago area, (2) setting up a web site that is becoming an important source for Chinese-American history, (3) conducting archival and oral history research, (4) fund raising, (5) collecting objects relavant to Chinese-Amrican history, and (6) planning the first exhibitions to be held in the nw museum building The museum building, formerly the Quong Yick Co., is located in Chicago's Chinatown, at 238 West 23rd Street (Chicago, IL 60616). It is currently being renovated and is scheduled to open to the public in the spring of 2005. < back to listings |
