Asian American Studies Center at UCLA
The University of California, Los Angeles, has one of the largest teaching programs in Asian American Studies in the nation, and has been one of two major sites for the training of Asian American Studies scholars for the past twenty-five years. It annually offers 50 - 60 classes that enroll over two thousand students. It has a newly approved BA major, which is projected to attract nearly five hundred majors within two years. It also has an undergraduate specialization/minor, and the nation's only MA program that has been training future researchers and community leaders for the past fifteen years. UCLA also produces more doctoral dissertations on Asian American Studies topics than any other university, and trains future scholars through its many departments that have Asian American Studies professorial specialists who are part of their permanent faculty. Plans are now being made to offer the nation's first Ph.D. in Asian American Studies.
