Nearly 61 million people in the United States volunteer at least once a year, over a quarter of the national population. The tangible impact they have on their communities can be documented—planted trees, newly painted schools, children in a free tutoring program. The intangible benefits (greener neighborhoods, a brighter learning environment, motivated and successful youth) can be felt. What many don’t consider or measure is the impact of service on the volunteer himself or herself.

Due out in 2009 is the major motion picture "Ninja Assassin" from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures. Playing the lead role will be Korean superstar Rain. Rain recently made his U.S. film debut in "Speed Racer" as the character Taejo Togokhan. Thanks to Warner Bros., Asian Loop is proud to feature these behind-the-scenes photos of the actor training for the role.

A Call to Arms from Immigration Voice   [Editorials]

The US senate has taken up the immigration bill S 1348 for comprehensive immigration reform. The bill reduces the number of green cards for EB1, EB2 and EB3 categories from 140,000 to 90,000 for the first 5 years and introduces a new points based merit system. Immigration Voice opposes this bill in its current form. We would like to have every member follow the script below and make phone calls to the Senators listed below. It’s very important that everyone call – and everyone means everyone.
